How to enter the game system
1, Connect the portable hard drive to the USB port on your PC or Mac when it’s off, USB 3.0 port is recommended.
2, After pressing the power button, keep tapping ESC or Delete on your keyboard to enter BIOS. For Mac users, simply hold Option and choose the portable hard drive to boot into.
3, By choosing the Hard Drive in the boot override option, your PC will boot into Batocera for once, after restarting it will get back to your own operating system. If you’d like Batocera as default booting option, go to the Boot page and set the portable hard drive as Boot Option #1.
Notice:
This hard drive will only work with X86 hardware (32bit or 64bit), any ARM based device (Windows Surface series, Mac with power pc CPU or M1 CPU) will not work. The BIOS interface and options may vary on your device as manufacturers may adopt unique BIOS or UEFI systems, if you encounter any hiccups and difficulties, you are more than welcome to contact our friendly sales staff.

A: It is normal for a mechanical hard drive to make a sound.It is possible that the reason for the failure to load is that you have performed a formatting operation under windows.Go into disk management and see if the partitions are all there. Works great after you change some settings
Didn’t boot on my pc until I went to bios to turn off security boot. After it booted I had no sound had to go into system settings and change video output from auto to the graphics card I have installed. Finally I mapped my ps5 controller and I was in business.

Not able to boot past the splash screen
I just built this computer: RTX 4080 super, Ryzen 7800x3d, 32g DDR5, ROG Strix B650E-F Mb, and this is the only software that doesnt work. I boot into the Bios and set the Batocera drive a the boot drive and save. Once it boots up it comes to a splash screen for about 30 seconds and then goes blank. Ive tried it on and older gaming laptop and a pc I built 6 years ago and it works fine but nothing on my new system.

Absolutely fantastic idea. Every game more than you can imagine. Easy to navigate and find games loads fast and you don’t have to be a computer nerd to operate. I’m using on a old laptop and it works fine. I locked my self out of a different emulator before messing around with controller buttons and specs… Luckily this one has safe guard to assure you don’t screw up….

Important to know before purchase
Okay, some things to start off with. This is plug and play but it’s not as simple as that. And the directions that come with the hard drive are utterly useless. I almost returned this item because to get it to even start was a very frustrating experience, but after playing around with it and researching on the internet, I figured it out. First, this is a Linux product, so to start it up on a Windows 11 OS, you must first boot into the bios screen, disable secure boot then place the game HD in the first boot position, over the OS. This is just the beginning. Now you have to connect your Bluetooth controller. My controllers would not connect, no matter what. This drove me so mad, I was about to pack up the HD and send it right back to Amazon. I figured out that you must first connect the HD to your wireless network, which you can find in the settings, then update it, which is also in settings. After rebooting, all of my controllers connected easily. I took a star off because of these initial difficulties and the useless directions that are packaged with the product, but I kept the remaining four because once you get past these initial difficulties, the system and the games work flawlessly and the price is excellent for all the content included as well as the presentation,

ok while it lasted, but really old drive.
The drive in the enclosure was quite old. It shipped with some bad sectors, and after about three uses wouldn’t mount the /SHARE partition. I tried to fsck from linux, but realized that the SHARE was formatted NTFS. Putting it into a Windows machine let me fix/repair that partition. I wasn’t necessarily expecting a new drive, but this one seems heavily used. No clicking or bad sounds, but not exactly reliable.

The newer your computer is the better this drive will function.
I tried to use this product and found it to be easy to start up and run games. However, the key games I wanted to run would not work. I suspect that the problem is more the age of my computer than it is the hard drive. Bottom line: the newer and more powerful your computer is, the more likely all the games will run.

Was hoping to reset the bios to pick up the drive as the boot drive, then run it.That didn’t work.I am not technical so gave up.looking at the drive on file explorer, i could tell there was stuff there, could not confirm if there were 117,000 games.Really disappointed that i didn’t get to try this as was hoping to build an arcade cabinet.
