Raising the Sound Bar
An excellent soundbar with enough power to fill the room and a subwoofer to enhance the dynamic range. It automatically senses surround-sound and approximates the experience for you. It accommodates all the major audio input types; I use an optical connection from my TV set and the result is fabulous. And it’s easy to control with included remote (its predecessor had no remote-control range to speak of). My television set is on a rolling stand because there’s no wall space for it, so I’m still working out how best to place the woofer; other than that, it’s been a great unit with excellent after-market support from the manufacturer.

Good Sound Bar and Mid Range/Mid Bass “Subwoofer” System.
Way louder than I expected. There is no way this runs 200 watts even total with 2 x 2″ drivers and a single 5 1/4″ woofer ported and crossed over for bass. It does however have a crisp, clear sound that is loud and has enough mid bass to fill in what the bar itself cannot due. Compatible with Doly Atmos, this bar was a pleasure to use. I didn’t want to take it apart! But I had to. I have a system in place and want to use this to augment the mid bass and mid-range, which the “subwoofer” does. I will use the bar for behind me and the “subwoofer” will go next to me on the desktop so to pump up the mid-range growl I am currently missing. This will give me a full surround sound, especially when using the Dolby Atmos system and this is the type of fill capacity I have been looking for as it balances Highs, Mid-Range and some Mid Bass frequencies through the 3 speakers in the set, and as mentioned, this is what I was missing.It has a plethora of connectivity choices, from Bluetooth and Digital to AUX and ARC passthrough. Both the bar and the sub are light and easy to move around. At $79.99 it is on the expensive side for what you get. Mind you, no matter how you cut it, you couldn’t reproduce this yourself using wood and used speakers for the same price, so in that aspect it isn’t perfect price to performance, but it is good.”Subwoofer” is in quotes as this is not a subwoofer. It is crossed over to be one but a 5 1/4″ woofer does not put out frequencies at a high enough volume with enough clarity to be called a subwoofer. 3 more wouldn’t do it either. You want a 10″ subwoofer or larger to get the 20Hz and below bass sounds that truly define the word subwoofer. This one has a mid-bass/midrange extender, and it should be called that but as it is a crossed over, separate box they call it a “subwoofer”. It was surprisingly loud, clear and useable, nonetheless.Video games sounded great, movies were good, and music was good as well. Being a bit of an audiophile, I would have preferred the sub to go much lower, but that’s me. The average person will love this.

Easy to install and use, rather decent sound quality; controls a little wonky
The sound quality is pretty decent overall. There’s no hissing or audible nose or distortions, and that’s all for the good. The unit can get fairly loud, too. Bass is pretty decent, at least when the unit is set to its surround mode.Mine was a breeze to set up; I didn’t have to refer to the instructions really at all. Using the unit, though, proved a tad bit problematic afterward. The soundbar doesn’t remember some settings, for instance. If you set it to, say, Bluetooth and turn it off and then on, it will default to its ARC input. Also, it will lose whatever audio settings you had just set it at. If you had just set its bass level to 6, for instance, that will come back at level 1. It does this kind of thing no matter what. There is a way around this issue, though: just leave your unit on. It will go to sleep by itself and come back without any problems.A feature I like but isn’t discussed in the documentation: the usb input. I was able to slap in a flash drive with mp3 music files recorded on it, and the unit started playing no problem. I did notice a discrepancy in the unit’s volume when you change inputs, though: the volume jumps up somewhat dramatically whenever you change to the usb input.One more thing: the controls on the remote are just a tad bit wonky. The input button won’t allow you to actually change inputs for instance; it will only allow you to change the settings of whatever input you’ve previously selected. No, to change the input you have to push on the little button marked movie. The button marked music actually switches the unit’s surround mode on and off. (The surround setting is pretty decent on this unit.) The button marked news allows you to select from three different audio modes, news, movies, and music.Bluetooth connects right away if it is set up right. I did have a problem one time, though, with no sound coming out even though a connection had been made. I just had to unpair and re-pair after that to make things work okay. There’s a delay after you turn the unit on, too.Overall, this would be a good little unit to get. It has lots of inputs and thus has lots of flexibility. The sound quality is decent enough. It has some minor issues, but those aren’t a dealbreaker.

I can’t say that I’m an expert in audio, but for me it was very easy to set this up and I think the sound quality is good. The speaker and subwoofer are quite compact, so it’s easy to find a space for them around the TV.They seem to have promotions on this speaker set quite often, so keep an eye out for when it’s reduced in price.
