You, as El President, will first take control of the infamous island of Tropico during early colonial times and then guide it through the centuries as the world changes and moves ever forward. You must tackle the changing needs of your people, as well as opposing governments and factions, and thus lay the foundations for your own dynasty. As you move through your years in office you can promote members of your extended family on the island to positions of power: such as ambassador, commanding general or even Supreme Ruler, to ensure your legacy thrives through the eras. As your influence and wealth grows, so do the threats to your burgeoning island superpower. Can you survive both World Wars, prosper through the Great Depression, rule as an iron-fisted dictator through the Cold War and advance your country to modern times and beyond? From the 19th to the 21st century, each era carries its own challenges and opportunities. Contains the full version of Tropico 5, the expansions Espionage and Waterborne with 10 DLC packs: The Big Cheese, Mad World, Generalissimo, Joint Venture, Surf’s Up, Gone Green, Supervillain, Inquisition, Super Computer and T-Day.
Explore your island – Discover what lies beyond the fog of war. Send prospectors to look for new deposits, but be wary of hostile animals and native tribes.
The Eras – Start your reign during colonial times, survive the World Wars and the Great Depression, be a dictator during the Cold War, and advance your country to modern times and beyond.
The Dynasty – Each member of the extended family of El President is present on the island and may be used as ruler, appointed manager, ambassador or general.
Research and Renovate – Advance your nation by discovering new buildings, technologies and resources.
Advanced trade system and trade fleet – Amass a global trade fleet and use your ships to secure trade routes to neighboring islands or world’s superpowers, both for export and import.

    Works great on old laptop
I started reading reviews on here after I placed my order and saw a lot of people saying their computers couldn’t run the game. I am not a “gamer”, my computer is just an old Compaq laptop from Walmart, it wasn’t anything special when it was new and now it’s 6 years old. I went to that system requirements lab website to see what it said, of course it came back that almost everything about this game was incompatible with my PC – I didn’t have enough RAM, video card wasn’t good enough, etc. The game arrives and I give it a try just to see for myself and it works like a charm. It doesn’t even make it run very hot, not nearly as bad as when I play the Sims. Graphics look great, no lag, honestly it runs perfectly on a computer that isn’t even supposed to run it at all. That said, after I found out it might not work for me I started looking into Tropico 4. I found a demo online and started reading the wiki and some forums. After playing 5 for about a week I think I’d rather have 4. The campaign on 5 is actually very fun but sandbox mode (which is what I was really looking forward to) is kind of lacking. Tropico 4 has more buildings, you’re able to use cheat codes which is fun when you just want to build a huge city instead of play from the ground up, and 4 just seems to have the traditional Tropico charm that 5 doesn’t offer. Unfortunately, it looks like the best deal on 4 is through steam, I can’t find a real complete collection (all expansions and all DLC) anywhere else. I would rather have a physical disc like I got with this order, but it seems that’s the only option.

Great game but before buying make sure your computer can run it
Make sure your computer can run it. I bought this and had to try it out on my husbands computer (his is newer), my graphics card could not run the program. Not their fault for my not checking first so I won’t ding them on that. I did enjoy the game very much as I have all the previous versions.

    Better than the last one
I really enjoy the improvements in this one relating to previous versions. I’m glad it’s not like Modern Times for T4. I like that buildings and edicts are available as the years pass. I think the redesign of the buildings look great! Something that was needed. I feel like there isn’t as much entertainment options or decoration items like previous versions, but it works. The main thing I don’t like is how the missions are accessible. Be sure to save because if not you’ll be forced to start from the beginning.

    Four Stars
Still fun. I really liked 4, but this one is prettier but not quite as lively.

Don’t Waste Your Money or Time
This version of Tropico is a giant step backwards from Tropico 4. Between the never ending rebels, disasters, elections, it is very difficult to progress. Then there is forced strategy of flipping back and forth between two islands!! What happened to having a number of islands to select from and then playing that island to the end? While I am sure others will find this interesting, this version is not for me. I have deleted this version off my computer and am back to play Tropico 4.

Very high technical requirements unable to run until we have to buy a new machine (but that’s the fault of product management not the product)

I like Tropico 5 but to be honest I do miss the awesome music from the older ones… I always had trouble keeping in my chair and not wanting to shake my ass like i was in Cuban disco…
