Fast, reliable, and built for creatives.
As a graphic designer working on both a Mac Mini M4 and MacBook Air M1, I’m constantly juggling large project files, from brand assets and RAW images to video renders. After a week of using the Crucial X10 4TB Portable SSD, I can confidently say it’s an excellent performer. The speed is the first thing you notice. File transfers are incredibly fast, whether I’m moving large Photoshop folders or backing up client projects. Even when connected via USB-C on both Macs, the drive maintains consistent performance with no lag or connection drops. The build quality feels solid yet lightweight, the blue finish gives it a professional yet stylish look that stands out on the desk. It’s compact enough to slip into a laptop sleeve without any bulk, making it perfect for on-the-go work sessions or traveling between client meetings. In just a week, it’s already become a core part of my workflow; fast, reliable, and perfectly suited to the Apple ecosystem. For designers or creative professionals who value both speed and portability, the Crucial X10 is a smart investment.

Underhyped, don’t underestimate this SSD.
I initially used this for recording ProRes, but then I realized something.I use premiere pro and after effects a lot which can be pretty hard on computers. My computer has an excellent cpu and gpu, but my internal ssd isn’t the best for this specific use. So I thought why not just install an external ssd and do everything there? It’s got its own SSD controller and is more than capable, and oh lemme tell you WHAT! This makes editing so much faster, it’s like a dream, it’s like having a private road of data flow for editing and editing only and it’s so much faster. Brother lemme tell you WHAT! Even my laptop became better which is a crappy Lenovo that I overpaid for because I thought ram was everything, it replaces the weak ssd and makes it so much faster, and if you’re editing ProRes footage is becomes even faster. And the best part is that I can move it back and forth with no problems. It doesn’t overheat, it doesn’t make any sound, it’s compatible with iOS and windows, and it’s super small and thin but it’s definitely durable. Apparently it’s weather proof or something like that, I’m never going to test it but if you want to you can.Maybe throw it in a blender or air fryer or something idk.Blender probably wouldn’t take it out, but the air fryer probably would.Unless you are working under the sea in the bikini bottom with SpongeBob and Patrick, or the surface of the sun. It’ll probably last years.

Excellent …… with a minor glitch
Great design. Small, easy to work with, good capacity, fast enough. Price was good (when it was on sale ….) . One small thing: has only USB-C connector. Would not work with USB-C to USB adapter.

External drive for games, photos and 3D models
I primarily wanted this to store off some computer games because I kept running out of space on my internal memory on my desktop. This works flawlessly so far after a couple months. I’ve found myself putting more and more on it, 3D models, photos I want to edit, ect. I’ve also switched it to be on my KVM switch to have it be useable on my laptop or desktop which is pretty slick.I’d certainly recommend this to someone needing extra space or a more versatile drive to use. I haven’t had any issues with speed transferring or playing games from it either.

Excellent!
It’s fast, it’s tiny, it works. I use this for games storage for my laptop and it works very well, at 2100mb/s it should be “slower” than my internal drive but it loads my games just as fast if not even faster on certain games it’s awesome! It’s so tiny so it’s easy to take around as well. One thing you should know though is that Windows settings will automatically turn off USB ports to save power and this draws enough power that it’ll disconnect due to that so you’ll need to go through Device manager and make sure to turn off that windows saving power setting for each USB port so it doesn’t turn off the drive when it’s in heavy use.

Excellent SSD for the Money!
This has been an excellent drive. I use it to store all my movies/shows and it plays them flawlessly. It is not loud and runs very quite. The read speeds are great for what I need them for. I’ve been using this for a while now and still works as good as new (durability is excellent). I would highly recomend this drive for those on a budget!

tiny!
this drive is half the size of my samsung 4tb (which im expanding from). im so impressed with the size.the included cord is sort of a joke, i couldnt really use it because its too short to rest the drive on anything since it just hangs from my pc tower & too close to my tablet & i dont own a laptop (which im sure was the only thing the cord would be useful for).i ended up going through all my other longer cords & discovered they were all usb2.0 except for 1.the 2.0 bottlenecks at around 40mbps, & the 3.0 cord i already had bottlenecks at approx 250mbps.i also tried c to c on my pc towers c usb. same speed as the 3.0 a usb ports (maybe even intermittenly slower).its really only gonna affect the first large migration (which took about 15 hrs).it did not seem to get overheated, but i did rest it above the pc towers overhead fans for good measure the entire time.amazon never lets me comment on price hikes but i think they dont care if its a sale compliment-the price is what sold me, usually its $100 per terabyte, i was dreading that maybe these are defective so the company was clearing stock, that may still be the case but im keeping backups on hard disc just in case. but i paid $440 for this, & its a lot of money but its a good deal for what you get.i still reordered a 2nd one though.i really wish there was larger options. a 10tb version would be ideal for me. you can fill up ssds to capacity & on windows you always lose like 1tb (this 8tb drive only has 7.27tb usable storage, & probably .25 of that has to be clear to avoid reducing speed & allowing room for the transfer cache).
