Meike steps up
I decided to try this Meike 55mm prime. Lets just say it was well worth it.Its sharp, its fast, it is quick silent focus,and its well made. I have no issues with this lens worth noting. I cant speak to Meikes entire Pro Line, but this particular lens is very good. I now carry this lens in my bag. Time will tell how it holds up. But, I dont forsee any issues if cared for properly. A very good lens to consider for price, optical quality, and performance. I look forward to trying another focal length, and hope to see more focal lengths offered. Especially if they can come up with a Sigma rival to the 24-75 range.This is an excellent buy, and worth a shot.

The Meike 35 mm f2 L-mount lens is a great value for the money
I purchased this Meike 35 mm f2 L-mount lens for my new Panasonic S9 camera. I wanted a light lens with a decent f value for dark conditions. I didn’t expect much for the price, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the lens. The lens is compact and light. I needed a lens that was not too bulky and heavy for the small S9 camera. Although I am not providing an in-depth review of the lens, I have found the lens to be very sharp and with little or no vignetting. The autofocus seems to be reasonably responsive. Overall, I have been very happy with the lens.

Versatile, affordable, great build quality
I took the lens out to the Nixon library, where curiously, I wanted to see how the camera would perform indoors and outdoors. It was a beautiful day, but the archives were closed due to the government shutdown! So I spent the afternoon in the garden, filming flowers, the Nixon birthplace, and even saw the helicopter where Nixon famously bid farewell. First, I’ve used several Meike lenses in the past and I am a big fan of their manual lenses. Generally, I prefer to shoot manual because I can control the focus, and don’t miss some pictures due to autofocus issues. Second, I like the value that they provide, and usually found that they provide solid build, provide good quiet autofocus, and are very practical and functional. This one is no different, offering reasonable speed and fine sharpness for the price. Let’s face it, unless you are pixel peeping, you don’t ever need to the kind of lenses that are 4x the price, and offer 10% better everything. These lenses are practical and give you 90% of what you need. I tested out the bokeh, and as you can see from the photos, it is quite pleasing for a f/1.8. Sure, I’d prefer f/1.2, but the price point gives you more than enough for everyday use when sharing with friends and family who aren’t professional photographers, and who are accustomed to phone cameras with tiny sensors. This is a highly versatile lens — one that won’t break the bank but gives you the opportunity to buy multiple prime lenses to carry around. I stay away from zooms, and love prime lenses. I look forward to checking out more prime lenses from Meike, especially if they get into the 135mm range. Based on quality and value, they are definitely giving Rokinon a run for their money.

Great auto focus and sharpness
When I got this, I really didn’t expect much for the price and because it’s an unknown company and yet this lens auto focus was fantastic. It was fast. It was snappy. It was sharp and it was clear and the best thing of all, it’s a bargain at the price so if you can’t afford the native lenses pick this one up you will not be sorry.

Extremely sharp and fast! I can make zero valid complaints given the price. Image quality, contrast, and sharpness all are excellent even wide open. I use it mainly for video and it is able to autofocus quickly and reliably, although it does struggle a bit in extreme low light. I think that’s a common issue with most lens’s. It can be a little easy to bump the aperture ring and end up at f16, so that could be better, and I wouldn’t mind if it was smaller, but for the price it truly is hard to beat.

Quality, lightweight lens with fast & smooth autofocus.
These MEIKE lenses don’t get enough attention – they’re high quality, lightweight, and have great autofocus features. The lens focuses quickly when using the autofocus button on my camera (see the included video). My camera lacks continuous autofocus though, so I wasn’t able to test that aspect out. Everything else about the lens is incredible, price point, quality, and extremely lightweight compared to some of the other lenses I use. This will be one of the main lenses I use for future projects.*note for video based cameras that don’t have traditional shutters (like BlackMagic Cinema Camera 6k FF):You’ll notice that MEIKE doesn’t list some of these cameras on their compatibility list, but they still can be used. If the lens is locked in place on the camera when it is powered on, the autofocus feature might not work at first due to the lack of a traditional shutter. To get around this, you can simply press the release button to unlock the lens (while the camera is still on), rotate it slightly, then rotate & lock it back in place – this will allow you to use the lens without a traditional shutter button. Kudos to MEIKE for being cautious about including these cameras on their comparability list, but they can be used on a lot of other L-Mount video/cinema cameras like BlackMagic.

Great Budget Portrait Lens
This is a really great Portrait lens for the money.Although it’s made of plastic it doesn’t feel cheap. The image quality is better than I expected given the price.Overall good sharpness and low vignetting, nice bokeh and a fast aperture.I like it.

Nach den ersten ca. 100 Bildern mit dieser Optik ist klar, dass für 300-400 Euro bereits sehr anständige Bildqualität mit dieser Festbrennweite möglich ist. Schärfe und Autofokus sind absolut vorzeigbar. Auflösung ebenfalls in dieser Preisregion fantastisch. Die Gegenlicht-Performance durch die Konstruktion der Optik gut. Für mich, der normalerweise mit M43 fotografiert, ein tolles Angebot um einigermaßen bezahlbar mit Vollformat zu experimentieren. Die langen Brennweiten bleiben M43 vorbehalten. Ich will weder schleppen noch hungern 😉

Da mag mach Einer die Augenbraue hochziehen, aber ich wollte es wissen und hab das gute Stück mal bestellt, zumal hier gerade wieder eine Lumix S5 (MKI) zu einem guten Kurs eingezogen war.Wie immer schnell geliefert war das Ganze beim Auspacken erstaunlich solide – da hab ich bei Marken-und Erstherstellern schon deutlich Schlechteres in der Hand gehabt, was man dann spöttisch als “Joghurtbecher” bezeichnete – das hier ist davon doch ein gutes Stück entfernt. Am Bajonett findet man eine rote Gummidichtung, aber komplett spritzwassergeschützt ist das Objektiv nicht. Diese Dichtung führt zumindest beim L-Mount dazu, daß der Deckel sehr stramm sitzt, bissl zu stramm für schnellen Wechsel und Einhändiges Aufsetzen und Entfernen – das dürfte sich im Laufe der Zeit aber durch Abnutzung legen.Die Sonnenblende liegt in Parkstellung eng am Objektiv an und trägt nicht so derart auf wie bei den Lumix Festbrennweiten (die machen das Objektiv 1cm dicker), was in der Fototasche schon einen Unterschied macht und mich da immer schon gestört hat. Anbringen und Absetzen ist auch ordentlich, ohne Hakeln, sitzt gut und nicht zu straff – das muß man dann auf lange Sicht beobachten.An der Kamera dann die erste Enttäuschung: der AF sucht viel zu oft, besonders bei wenig Licht (ich hatte die ersten Tests bei einem Konzert gemacht) und daher überdurchschnittlich viel Ausschuß. Gleich nach dem Kauf hatte ich auf der Herstellerwebseite geschaut (die zwischendurch mal offline war), aber es gab kein Firmwareupdate für die L-Mount Version (Stand Januar 25), so mußte ich mit Firmware 1.0 Vorlieb nehmen. Das führte dazu, daß ich das Objektiv direkt wieder zurückschickte, auch wenn mir die Bilder, die kein Ausschuß waren, dank der gegenüber den Lumix-Objektiven wärmeren Farbabstimmung gut gefielen. Nur zum Vergleich: Ich hatte zeitgleich auch das 1.8/50mm vom Meike im Einsatz, welches beim AF tadellos funktionierte, aber auch eine höhere Firmwareversion aufwies.Update Juni 2026:Ich hab dem Objektiv nochmal eine Chance gegeben, zumal jetzt eine neuere Firmware bereitstand (1.08, inzwischen 2.0), und damit funktionierte es genauso tadellos an der Lumix S5 MKI wie das 50er vom gleichen Hersteller. Daher jetzt 5 Sterne für das Objektiv, der Hersteller sollte allerdings vielleicht mal den Webhoster wechseln, der offenbar keine ZIP-Dateien erlaubt, denn alle Firmwareupdates sind als pdf dort abgelegt, die man erst umbenennen muß (was nirgends steht!). Hiweis: Meike ist NICHT Teil der L-Mount Allianz, somit erfolgt das Firmwateupdate über den im Bajonett eingelassenen USB-C Port (wahrscheinlich war das Protokoll dazu nicht so einfach zu entschlüsseln oder gar verschlüsselt) – egal, es funktioniert und ist von Preis/Leistung her unschlagbar. Aktuell gibts sogar schon ein 35er Pro Modell mit Blendenring, das ist dann angeblich komplett Spritzwassergeschützt, aber eben auch 100€ teurer.
