Well made and impressive for the price.
I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect when I ordered this lens. The package arrived, and as I was opening it, I was surprised to see a nicely made tin housing the lens. I wish my Canon L glass lenses that I have bought came packaged as nicely. I looked down at the lens and picked it up noticing it’s heft. I mounted it to my camera and realized that it must have been made to some tight tolerances because of how nice a snug fit it had to the body. It works very well. The body seems tight and awesome. No slack or loose fitting parts. I went on the companies web site. the biggest difference between this lens and the one that is about $200 more by the same company (Irix) is that the more expensive one has a metal body more along the lines of the “L” glass. I would love to have one so I could do a side by side comparison, but I don’t have that sort of cash to play with. I believe that the internal optics are the same in both. On a side note, if you go to the companies web site they also make a 11mm version. I haven’t seen it on amazon yet. The pics that I have added of the church interior are straight out of the camera. No editing to improve them in any way. The other photo I added to show off the bokeh of the lens. If you want to order a filter or two for the front of the camera, it is 95mm. Yes, you read that right, 95mm. I picked up one on amazon for next to nothing compared to what most filters cost and it works great! Irix makes their own brand of filters, but sadly didn’t see any list on Amazon. The lens takes crisp photos. I’m impressed with the quality of the glass. The BadIt’s supposed to run a f-stop range of 2.4 to 22. My camera reads it as a 2.5 I can live with a 0.1 difference. That’s it. So far that’s the only bad thing I have to say about the lens.

Light fall of is stronger than I like – but for the price it’s s good compromise.
This was a used lens from Adorama. It was stated as very good and I would rate it excellent. As for the lens itself, I found that light fall was much stronger than anticipated. Lightroom fixes most of it, but it really has strong vignetting wide open and at F4. Image quality is good a is contrast. Less so than my Nikons but ok. Edges are soft at F2.4 and F4 but improve at F5.6. I found the lens construction for the Firefly version to be very good. Solid, with no play at all. Focus is heavily damped and works nicely on manual mode of a Z6.

    Amazing super wide angle!
Wonderful lens! Well built, packaged well, great hood, sharp, focus lock, smooth focus, camera aperture control with exif data, little distortion or chromatic aberration, and the infinity click is nice and dead on! Haven’t tried the gel filters yet but soon will. Very wide angle! Vignetting is strong at 2.4 but the lens is still fairly sharp in the corners at that wide open aperture. A lens profile is a must to correct vignetting at large apertures. Daytime blue sky shows vignetting until F9.0 but with a lens profile you won’t notice it. Very happy with my purchase!

Great lens, I think? Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck with a dud.
Update:I heard back from my email finally, and they asked me to email their US arm. Strangely, the Amazon support link for the manufacturer goes to the wrong site.Anyhow, heard back from F-service Service Center and they are asking me to ship the lens to Poland for warranty repair, with shipping cost being my responsibility. Now, I understand I took a while to realize the lens is defective, but I’m looking at a third of the cost of the lens to ship it to Poland insured via a reputable shipper. Add to that customs and the possibility they will not fix it and they may charge me return shipping? It’s not worth the gamble or hassle, IMO. Reducing my review to 1 star due to convoluted and nebulous customer service on top of poor quality control.Original Review:I bought this lens back in August with the hopes of using it for night sky photos and wider landscapes. I took some quick test shots, didn’t not do any pixel peeping and thought, “Ok, it works.”Then it sat for a few months until I had a chance to put it to use. After I shot some night sky shots, I started zooming in and realized that basically, nothing is in focus, despite trying zoom-in focusing and focus peaking, etc. I looked back at my original photos and zoomed in, and the focus was soft on those too.Unfortunately, my return window ship sailed long ago. That’s on me.But I did try to reach out to Irix through their website contact form (which is where the Amazon “contact the manufacturer” link goes), and then when I did not receive a response within a few days, I sent an email to the email address listed on their website last week. Still no response. Now I am stuck with a lens that does not focus and it’s pretty disappointing. Other than the focus issues, the lens was plenty bright for the stuff I was doing, and had a decent image quality. If I get a response from their support folks and/or a warranty return/repair, I’ll update the review. In the meantime, I’ve purchased a different lens from a different manufacturer, which also seemed to suffer from the same QC issue. I returned that and ordered a replacement and it’s working great now. Third time’s a charm, I guess.

A great quality, wide angle lens I can afford!
A great lens! Fast, sharp, extra wide angle, low distortion, and weather sealing, which is perfect for my Pentax camera. Even though it is a manual focus, it is easy to use and Irix provides good, basic instructions with the lens and you can get more detailed instructions on their website. It also comes with a lens hood, lens cap, and lens case/cover, and an aluminum, well padded storage container. It is designed to use a low-profile filter up front and a gelatin filter slot in back. Also comes with two rear lens caps. Sample photos were taken with a Pentax K-70.

Love it, love it, love it!Sharp as a tack even when wide open and very little distortion – what else can you want from a lens? The focus ring feels solid and smooth. With the addition of a raised lever type bit on it, it’s easy to operate to a high level of accuracy. There’s a focus locking ring too but that’s a little harder to operate as it is sandwiched between the lens hood and focus ring – my fingers feel like they’re likely to be moving the focus ring whilst I apply the lock. Kinda the opposite of its purpose. But it’s not really a problem – if you really needed to lock the focus off I’m sure you could with a bit of care. The packaging it arrived in was very fancy but probably overkill – knock five quid off the price and do away with the Irix biscuit tin – I’m not going to use it, ever!I wondered about getting the metal version of this but went for the cheaper plastic version. It doesn’t feel cheap or look cheap or perform cheaply so I think it was the right choice. I really can’t complain about the look or feel of the materials. Treat the lens with a little respect and I don’t see why it won’t last decades.I’m sure there’s a good reason for it but the 95mm filter thread seems unnecessarily large. I’m not a common user of filters but a uv filter over the front element is something I tend to use for protection from knocks and the environment. Getting a 95mm filter of high enough quality to not impact the image quality is going to cost a load of can though.

I use the lens for Astro photography and a different style of street photography. The images are always tac sharp. Great lens at great value. Works seamlessly on my canon EOS R and 6d.
