Best Ever
I bought the Hoyle Official Card Games (for Windows) when I bought a new mini tower and lost my old games. The selection is FANTASTIC. I love to play Euchre, which most people never heard of except in upstate NY (Rochester) or perhaps in the middle part of the country. At any rate, there are actual player partners for the Euchre set-up, which in the past I’ve never found. The gin rummy is great as well, playing against the computer and I tend to stick with these plus Aces & Kinds double solitaire, but there are a ton of other games as well. So glad I found this. I bought it and clicked the download button — very easy, no problems. I have Windows 10 and a new HP mini tower. 12/12/17

Not what I expected at all
I bought this specifically to play Bridge. I had an earlier PC version of Hoyle Card Games (It came on a floppy disc) that had an excellent version of Bridge. This version is but a shadow of the former game. The other players in this version seem to have absolutely NO knowledge of the standard bidding conventions (no Blackwell?) and in general play very badly. In the older version, I could adjust the difficulty level of the game; you can’t with this one. If the Bridge is no good, I shudder to even try the others.Given Amazon’s non-refundability policy on downloadable games. be assured that I will never purchase anything more from them. YOU SHOULDN’T EITHER.Now to go digging through boxes to see if I can find those old floppy discs. On the slim chance that I do, they probably won’t run on Windows-11.Newer is NOT better.EDIT (3/8/2024) – Since this POS is sold on a non-refundable basis, I thought I’d at least try to use it ain sort of a “Party Bridge” way. It is completely useless, even for that purpose. I initially was concerned that it didn’t seem to recognize bidding conventions and other nuances of the game.. Hell, this thing can’t even keep score properly. As an example, I set the opponents by 8 tricks (in a suit I had bid myself, twice). The game gave me NO points for “Undertricks”!. I could go on and on, ut I think you get the idea.Later, while exiting the game, I saw that the had a provision for “Online Updates”. Hoping that they may have made some improvements, I “clicked” on it. But nope, the dreaded “404 Error”.The previous version was an excellent game. It is impossible for me to understand how far backwards they could go in only 20 years.Amazon should really stop offering this POS if they have any concern for their reputation.

Really enjoyable
This is the 2nd time I’ve purchased this same download (for a new computer). I really enjoy playing cards as a way to decompress in the evening. This is just the ticket. Easy to use.

Please don’t waste your money
I am astounded by just how bad this game is. I had to upgrade my 2008 edition because is stopped playing after a Windows 10 update. The downloaded version was V. 115. Only marginally better after updating to V.128. The opponents in the 2008 version had some personality and engaged in some mild smack talk that was in context for what was happening in the game. The male characters in the new version all sound like they were voiced by same 18-year old kid trying, very badly, to be funny by making random comments that have nothing to do with the game.To make it worse, the AI is far worse than the 2008 version. I played 10 games, from several different card games, and won 9 out of the 10 games. Boring, boring, boring. I was able to win 1/3 to 1/2 of the games I played in the 2008 version. The opposition uses the same losing strategy in game after game.Total waste of money. For Hoyle to have their name attached to this product is embarrassing. Trust the low rating this product has.

Ok, not as great as the older version.
The game is ok but not as wonderful as the older version that my husband gets to play on his old computer.I did add it to my computer, but a lot of the features are not available on Windows 10. That’s why I purchased this game. Like I said the game is ok, probably more than ok, but I was spoiled by the original software.

I originally wrote a bad review of this product saying that it was impossible to download. I’m the guy who said he bought the product back in 2022. This is just to help anyone reading the reviews to recognize my original review and ignore it. The reason I couldn’t download it was my stupidity. I persevered and downloaded it eventually. I still have my original Hoyle’s Card games from way back when on a little notebook and I still prefer it to this newer version but this one has far more varied games on it. I only wish it could tell me how to play them but I suppose I have to get an actual copy of Hoyles to do that. At least I have set the record straight and can recommend this product.

Took a long long time to load programme. Then I got the message that some files could not be loaded.As you wil see I went through the never ending task of downloading. A certain amount of ‘sound’I think, could not be loaded.I therefore wish to cancels both attemps tp load/activate.Bill Landells I HAVE TRIED ALL METHHOD, RELOADED ‘MANY, TIMES. always GET MESS ‘CANNOT ACCESS TEXT’THEN IT SHUTS GOWN. REQUIRE A REFUND. THUS ALSO THE SAME PROGRAMM ORDERED FOR MY WIFE ANNE-MAGRETNEVER BEEN LET DOWN BY YOUR ORGANIZATION. SO FAR!!!!BILL IN BUXTEHUDE.

Catastropic fiasco, even with driver updates and several installations it refuses to function, it blocks every move, wants to take your computer over, change the browser, stuff it full of obstacles you dont need, dont really know how Hoyles get away with selling it, ive also had problems with two other versions on discs that wouldnt install either. Own several laptops and tried it on several, so couldnt really put it down to fault on laptop.
