HDR is as good as the LG27UL, UN and UK series that is 400 certified
Finally I found a great monitor with no backlight bleeding. It has some ips glow but that is ok, as the black levels in this monitor is the best I have seen in an ips monitor so far.Second of all, people are complaining about HDR being washed out for 2 reasons 1- They are using HDR on non supported HDR games 2- Or they are playing a game that has terrible HDR implementation to begin with, and a good example for such a game is Red Dead redemption 2 which looks terrible and washed out when HDR is turned on(this is even for the best HDR TVs as it is a game issue and not a monitor or a TV issue), but you can still fix this issue by tinkering with your PS4’s HDR calibration settings. Games that I have tried on this monitor and look great with HDR for PS4 pro are(Spider man, God of war, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon zero of Dawn). Most importantly I do not understand why is this not vesa hdr certified while LG UK, UN and UL series are. For one, the LG monitors in the series I have listed and that have the “400” hdr certification, do not even exceed 350 nits(Their peak brightness is 350 nits, just as high as this Asus monitor) which is funny because both the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q and the LG 27UK, UN and UL series are all 350 nits max, but for some reason the LG was able to acquire a Vesa 400 certification for its HDR, but the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q, which has the same amount of nits(350), did not acquire this certification. All in all this is a great monitor that has the best black levels for an IPS monitor and it is of better quality than the more expensive LG27UK, Ul and UN series. Its black levels are very impressive and makes any game that much more atmospheric and immersive, regardless of the resolution. For example, Cyberpunk on PC, set at 1080p, actually looks great on this monitor due to the black levels (without HDR).-The Cons, What are they?1-The Buttons and the Display options are kinda terrible and inaccessible/nonintuitive.2-No volume buttons or wheel, so you actually have to go into the OSD(on screen display options) in order to get into the volume section to turn your volume up or down.3- It does not come with an HDMI cable and only comes with a Display Port cable.4- Terrible wire connection locations(vertically placed in the back rather than horizontally, which LG monitors win in this department)5- And lastly there is no quick buttons for input changes. You still have to go into the menu in order to change your input from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 to Display Port and vice versa. So good thing non of the cons have to do anything with the actual image quality because this monitor performs very well in that department. I feel they skimped on these technical issues in order to give you an Amazing display for this price, so the shortcuts that were made to offer such an amazing picture for this price, are mostly the cons I have listed, and It did not come at the expense of image quality which is great.Of course many people would add 60hertz as a “con” but for gamers who are not planning to play games higher than 60fps, then there is no reason to consider this a con. It is only a con for people who care more about performance in multiplayer games, than about image quality. And no, the new consoles will not take advantage of monitors with higher refresh rates in triple A tittles and only a few games will even run at 4k 120 hertz on the xbox series x or the PS5. It is a gimmick that you should not base your monitor shopping decision on. I mean the PS5 box states “8k”…does that mean that games will run at 8k on PS5 and that you should go out and now buy an 8k TV to “future proof” yourself? lol of course not. Gimmick advertising is a thing children.

A good display with both clarity and smoothness
After moving, I used this ROG Strix 4K monitor as my primary monitor. It offers a very good color gamut and a high refresh rate, while remaining competitively priced, which is excellent for the ROG Strix series.Installation is pretty simple and stratforward, and experienced DIY users don’t even need a manual. Although I eventually switched to an arm mount, the original mount is sturdy and has a useful slot for my phone.

Fantastic 4K Gaming Performance with Excellent Features
I am absolutely thrilled with the ASUS ROG Strix 27” 4K monitor. The picture quality is outstanding; 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) on a 27-inch screen is incredibly sharp. The 160Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time combined with the Fast IPS panel deliver an incredibly smooth gaming experience, with virtually no ghosting.G-Sync compatibility works flawlessly and eliminates screen tearing. The addition of a USB-C port makes connectivity a breeze, especially for my laptop setup. The monitor looks sleek, and the tripod socket is a nice touch for streaming or mounting accessories. This is a top-tier gaming monitor that I highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade to 4K high refresh rate.

Great monitor at 4k(120hz) but…
Great monitor. The only thing I was confused about it’s the description where it says 2160 (160hz). I tried everything to get 4k(160hz). Didn’t think that I need to change the display port cable since thats the one that’s in the box. Come to find it that it don’t hit 160hz at 4k. It will downscale to 1440p at 160hz. Plus it does not look good at that resolution. The duel function works perfectly and it will definitely do the job if you play competitive shooter games at 1080p(360hz) Overall it’s a great monitor in my opinion and the 4k display is great, crystal clear at 120hz. I just don’t understand the technical description that is listed 2160( 160hz) kinda misleading.

Will make your games look amazing.
Want to buy it for your console? DO IT!I’ve been playing on 1080p-1440p for years and I saw this ROG on sale for $300. It looks beautiful. Some features are not available on console like elmb option. The freesync is useless unless you use this for PC. But it still works amazing. I have only one complaint tho. I wish it came with an HDMI cable. So if you get this, be sure you have an HDMI 2.1 cable on stand by.The stand feels durable and weighty. Clips into the back of the monitor easy enough. I will be buying a mount arm because I love the freedom of mobility.I love all the options available in the settings. So if you want this for your PS5..do it. All mygames look so much better and makes me want to replay them all. Will come back and update as time goes on if anything comes up with the monitor. 12/27/25

If you’re playing single player titles or just playing for kicks with friends online this screen will meet your needs. The HDR isn’t absolutely eye-popping, but I don’t find it lacking by any means. I used windows HDR calibration app which I must say really brought it all up to par. I’ve got this hooked up to a 4090, g-sync enabled. The frame rates are butter. Absolute constant 60 fps.3D modeling and Photoshop have looked and worked great on this monitor. No complaints there. The 10-bit colour depth coming in with 1.02 billion colours, standard contrast ratio, and slightly above standard brightness all add to the experience. The stand is actually very nice. Great quality, and many angles of adjustment.I’ve been playing around with the idea of buying two more of these monitors for a triple monitor set-up. Absolutely love it.Highly recommend.

This monitor is incredible. My only complaint is the stand isnt very tall but this is a very minor inconvenience. Blows my old Asus monitor out of the water.

Overall good product. HDR in black background is acceptable. Cannot ask too much for edge-lit. Delivery is faster than expected.
